COUNTRY UPDATES & REQUIREMENTS

The following is a guide to current restrictions. For the most up to date information on countries of interest, please check this list from the State Department which contains the most current status of travel restrictions put into place.
UNITED STATES: Effective December 6, 2021, all airline passengers to the United States, aged two years and older, regardless of vaccination status or citizenship, must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within one calendar day of boarding flight to the United States. Alternatively, travelers to the United States may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel. BOTSWANA: As of March 18, 2022, the Government of Botswana has modified rules regarding entry into the country.
Arrival: Fully vaccinated travelers who have completed the primary vaccine series (two doses of a two-dose regimen or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) will be allowed entry into Botswana with physical proof of vaccination. Soft copy/ phone apps are not currently accepted. Partially vaccinated or not vaccinated travelers are required to present a negative 72-hour PCR test result and undergo Covid-19 testing at the port of entry, at own expense. If test result is negative, traveler will be allowed to proceed into the country. If positive, traveler will be isolated, at own expense, in the district of the port of entry and allowed to proceed into the country only after recovery. A negative PCR test result and testing on arrival are no longer required.
Departure: If required by onward destination, PCR tests are available at own expense. Please check with your airline and onward travel arrangements.

KENYA:
Arrival: Travelers who are fully vaccinated are exempted from the PCR test requirement for entry. Must show a valid vaccination certificate, uploaded in Global Haven platform prior to boarding flight to Kenya. 24 hours before arrival, complete the required International Health Surveillance Form. A QR Code will automatically download to your device and be emailed to you to be presented on arrival in Kenya.
Unvaccinated travelers are not allowed to enter Kenya. This entry restriction does not apply to: Kenya citizens, travelers under the age of 18, travelers with medical conditions precluding vaccination (required to provide a letter from a recognized medical practitioner detailing the medical reason precluding vaccination), travelers who have recovered from COVID-19 with accepted proof.
All arriving unvaccinated travelers, 5 years and older, must show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result conducted within 72 hours prior to departure. The results must be uploaded to the Global Haven platform prior to boarding flight to Kenya. 24 hours before arrival, complete the required International Health Surveillance Form. A QR Code will automatically download to your device and be emailed to you to be presented on arrival in Kenya.
Departure: Departing passengers whose airline or destination country require a negative PCR based COVID-19 test are required to utilize either Trusted Travel or Global Haven if the test certificate is from a jurisdiction where Trusted Travel is not available.
After testing, receive an SMS and/or email from admin@panabios.org with instructions on how to generate a Travel Code from http://trustedtravel.panabios.org/ to be approved by airlines and immigration authorities on departure.

SOUTH AFRICA:
Arrival: Fully vaccinated travelers arriving at any point of entry or land border must produce a valid vaccination certificate. A negative PCR test for entry is no longer required. (Click on this CDC link: Stay Up to Date with Your COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC to check if you are fully vaccinated.)
Unvaccinated travelers arriving at any point of entry or land border must provide a valid certificate of a negative COVID-19 test, recognized by the World Health Organization and obtained not more than 72 hours before the date of travel.
Complete the required Entry Traveler Health Questionnaire
If traveling within South Africa, complete the required Domestic Health Screening Questionnaire
All arriving passengers who fail to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test will be required to quarantine, at own expense.
Travelers presenting symptoms will be required to remain in quarantine until a repeat COVID-19 test is conducted.
Install the COVID Alert South Africa mobile app for the duration of stay
International travelers are required to have mandatory travel insurance, and must cover COVID-19 related costs
Those who test positive with no symptoms do not have to isolate.
If you test positive with symptoms, the isolation period is 7 days.
Contacts do not have to isolate unless they develop symptoms.
Departure: Outbound travelers from South Africa must comply with the requirements of the country of destination. Complete the required Exit Traveler Health Questionnaire

TANZANIA: Effective March 17, 2022, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has updated its COVID-19 entry measures.
Arrival: Fully vaccinated travelers entering Tanzania, including Tanzanians and those in transit through land borders, will be exempted from both RT PCR and Rapid Antigen Test requirements. Travelers will be required to present a valid vaccination certificate (vaccines approved by WHO) with QR code for verification upon arrival.
Travelers who are not fully vaccinated, unvaccinated and those not eligible for vaccination due to their country policy, will be required to present a negative COVID-19 RT- PCR or NAATs certificate with QR code obtained within 72 hours before departure.
All travelers are required to complete the Health Surveillance Form https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz/online for Tanzanian mainland and https://healthtravelznz.mohz.go.tzb for Zanzibar within 24 hours before arrival into Tanzania. Upon completion, you will receive a confirmation code, including a Unique Health Code (UHC) to present to health officials during primary screening upon arrival in Tanzania.
Travelers originating from countries listed in the Ministry of Health website www.moh.go.tz or Points of Entry will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival using a Rapid Antigen Test at their own cost of USD 10 for Tanzania Mainland. The list of countries is yet to be updated at the MoH website but travelers will be prompted, alerted to pay if they are required to have a Rapid Antigen Test while filling the online Traveler's Health Surveillance Form available at https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz/ for Tanzania Mainland.
Children aged 5 years and below will be exempted from both RT PCR and Rapid Antigen Test requirements.
Symptomatic positive Rapid Antigen travelers will be isolated for treatment at government-designated health facilities requirements unless stated otherwise by the conveyance to be used or countries of their finaldestinations.
Travelers in transit by air transport are exempted from both vaccination and COVID 19 testing.
Departure: Requirements for travelers departing Tanzania will be in line with the requirements issued by the travelers’ respective airline or destination country. COVID-19 testing should be taken a minimum of 5 days prior to departure (depending on the specific airline and destination country requirements) to ensure adequate time is allowed for test results to be received.
Mandatory to travelers, including travelers in transit, whose destination is the USA, UAE, India and some European countries:
a) Have a valid RT PCR COVID-19 Test Certificate; b) Undertake COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test at the Airport 24 hours before travelling. This requirement is mandatory to travelers whose destination is to the United States of America, India and some of the European countries; c) Conduct Rapid PCR COVID-19 test to travelers travelling to the United Arab Emirates or to those on transit in Dubai (b-above is not required for (c), and vice versa) d) Have a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate.

ZAMBIA: Effective March 28, 2022, Zambia has issued new guidelines for all international travelers entering any point of entry into the country.
Arrival: Fully vaccinated travelers (having completed and received the first and second doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine) are required to present proof of vaccination upon arrival into Zambia and will no longer need to present a negative PCR test.
Travelers who are not fully vaccinated MUST show proof of a COVID-19 PCT test conducted within 72 hours before departure from country of origin. Anyone who does not meet this requirement will be retested upon arrival in Zambia, at own expense. If tested positive, self-quarantine, at own expense, will be mandatory, following Zambian protocols.
All arriving passengers into Zambia must create a PanaBios CAS | Login account and generate a Trusted Travel Code where test results will be uploaded. Travelers with results from non-trusted travel compliant laboratories will be required to upload test results to the Global Haven System for authentication.
Departure: Travelers must have negative COVID-19 PCR test results before departure from Zambia. All departing passengers from Zambia must have a PanaBios CAS | Loginaccount and generate a Trusted Travel Code. Travelers with results from non-trusted travel compliant laboratories will be required to upload test results to the Global Haven System for authentication.

ZIMBABWE:
Arrival: Every person arriving in Zimbabwe is required to have a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure.
Quarantine after international travel to Zimbabwe is not required for those who are fully vaccinated.
Passengers without a test result or displaying COVID-19 symptoms may be denied entry or detained until they can be tested for COVID-19.
All arrivals into Zimbabwe are required to present a negative COVID-19 test on the Trusted Travel Initiative Platform. Create a PanaBios CAS | Login account and generate a Trusted Travel Code where test results will be uploaded. Results from non-trusted travel compliant laboratories will be required to upload test results to Global Haven for authentication

Travelers that test positive will be required to go into local isolation for 10 days at own expense. After isolation, travelers will need to be retested before they are permitted to travel home or on to their next destination.
Kazungula border & Victoria Falls bridge border are open for fully vaccinated tourists. All other Zimbabwe land borders remain closed, except for transportation of goods and for returning residents. All travelers still need to present a negative PCR COVID-19 Clearance Certificate obtained within 48 hours of crossing.
Curfew is from midnight – 5:30am
Restaurants, bars and hotels offering catering services will operate between 8am and 10pm hours, and will allow sit-ins for fully vaccinated guests only.
Departure: Travelers departing Zimbabwe must use an authorized Trusted Traveler laboratory for their COVID-19 PCR test. Get a Trusted Travel code from the laboratory where the test was performed and create an account at panabios.org, PanaBios CAS | Login , where your results will be uploaded.
Departing guests must show their negative PCR test upon entering the airport. The PCR test must be valid within 72 hours of departure (depending on onward country’s requirement). If your PCR certificate expires while in Zimbabwe, you will need to be re-tested before departure.
